Recovery & Wellness Infusions in Calgary

Fatigue that does not lift after a week of rest usually has a reason. A recovery infusion restores fluids, electrolytes and nutrients while the physician finds that reason, whether it is a lingering virus, low iron, poor sleep or simply too much demanded for too long.

Physician assessed. Blood work included. From $250.
3301 17 Ave SE, Calgary. Open Monday to Saturday. Request an appointment or call (403) 214-2622.

When a recovery infusion helps

  • The weeks after flu, COVID or pneumonia, when energy and appetite are slow to return
  • After surgery or a hospital stay, once your surgeon has cleared you
  • Endurance athletes after a race or training block, when recovery has stalled
  • Caregivers, shift workers and new parents running on empty
  • Periods of high work stress with poor sleep and skipped meals

Fatigue lasting more than a few weeks is also a symptom of anemia, thyroid disease, sleep apnea, depression and diabetes. The assessment that comes with this infusion screens for all of them.

What is in the infusion, and what to expect

Fluids with electrolytes, B-complex and B12, magnesium, vitamin C and, where blood work supports it, zinc. If iron is the problem, you will be offered an iron infusion instead, because vitamins will not fix iron deficiency.

Your visit, step by step

1. Physician assessment with blood work: CBC, ferritin, B12, thyroid, glucose and others as indicated.
2. Infusion prescribed from the results, 45 to 60 minutes in the chair.
3. Registered nurse monitoring.
4. Follow-up on anything the blood work found.

Why have a recovery infusion at a medical clinic

Physician assessed

The infusion comes with a real work-up. If your fatigue is anemia, thyroid or sleep apnea, you find out and it gets treated. The assessment is covered by Alberta Health Care.

Built from your results

The blend follows your blood work, so you are not paying for nutrients you already have enough of.

Continuity

Seva is a family practice. The physician who assesses you can follow up, refer, or become your family doctor.

Safety

Side effects are uncommon and mild: a vitamin taste, flushing, soreness at the IV site. Infusions are adjusted or avoided in heart failure and kidney disease. Tell the physician about all medications and supplements, any recent hospital admission, and whether you are pregnant or breastfeeding.

Cost and coverage

The physician assessment is covered by Alberta Health Care. The infusion itself is a private service from $250, which includes the prescribed fluids, electrolytes and vitamins, nursing time and observation. You will be given the exact price before anything is booked.

Some extended health plans reimburse IV therapy with a prescription. Ask reception for a receipt and the prescription copy.

Frequently asked questions

Will one infusion fix my fatigue?

If you are depleted after an illness, you will usually feel better within a day or two. If the cause is something else, the infusion helps briefly and the blood work points to the real fix.

How is this different from the vitamin infusion?

The components overlap. The recovery infusion leans on fluids and electrolytes for people who are depleted; the vitamin infusion targets a specific confirmed deficiency.

Can I have one after COVID?

Yes, once the acute illness has passed. Persistent symptoms beyond 12 weeks need a broader assessment, which we also provide.

Do you treat athletes?

Yes. Note that some infused substances are restricted in competition under WADA rules (infusions over 100 mL in 12 hours require a therapeutic use exemption). Tell us if you compete.

How often can I have a recovery infusion?

Occasionally, when depleted. Regular infusions are a sign something else needs attention, and the physician will say so.
