Vitamin & Nutrient Infusions in Calgary

Vitamin and nutrient infusions deliver B vitamins, vitamin C, magnesium and other nutrients directly into the bloodstream, bypassing the gut. At Seva Medical Clinic the blend is chosen by a physician from your history and blood work, not picked from a menu, so you replace what you are short of.

Physician prescribed. Blood work first. From $250.
3301 17 Ave SE, Calgary. Open Monday to Saturday. Request an appointment or call (403) 214-2622.

Who nutrient infusions help

Infusions make the most difference when absorption through the gut is the problem, or when a deficiency is confirmed:

  • B12 deficiency, common with vegetarian and vegan diets, metformin, acid-reducing medication and in older adults
  • Malabsorption from celiac disease, Crohn’s, ulcerative colitis or bariatric surgery
  • Low magnesium with muscle cramps, palpitations or migraine
  • Persistent fatigue once iron, thyroid and sleep have been checked
  • Nutrient replacement during recovery from a prolonged illness

If blood work shows you are not deficient, the physician will say so. An oral supplement or a dietary change is often the better answer, and we will tell you when it is.

What goes in the infusion, and what to expect

Vitamin B12 (hydroxocobalamin or cyanocobalamin), B-complex, vitamin C, magnesium sulphate, zinc and calcium, in normal saline. Doses follow Health Canada product labelling. We do not use high-dose vitamin C for cancer or unproven anti-ageing protocols.

Your visit, step by step

1. Physician assessment and blood work (B12, ferritin, magnesium, vitamin D and others as indicated), covered by Alberta Health Care.
2. Results reviewed and a blend prescribed, usually within a week.
3. 45 to 60 minutes in the chair with a registered nurse.
4. Repeat blood work after a course to confirm levels have recovered.

Why have nutrient infusions at a medical clinic

Physician assessed

Blood work first, so you replace what is low and skip what is not. A deficiency often has a cause worth treating, and the same physician can do that.

Prescribed, not packaged

Each blend is written as a prescription for you. No branded cocktails, no upsells.

B12 injections too

If you only need B12, an intramuscular injection takes two minutes and costs far less than an infusion. We will recommend it when it is the right choice.

Safety

Water-soluble vitamins given at labelled doses are well tolerated. The most common effects are a warm flush, a vitamin taste or smell during the infusion, and soreness at the IV site. Magnesium can cause brief flushing or lowered blood pressure, so it is run slowly and monitored.

Infusions are not given if you have kidney disease without specialist input, G6PD deficiency (for vitamin C), or a known allergy to any component. Tell the physician about all supplements and medications you take.

Cost and coverage

The physician assessment is covered by Alberta Health Care. The infusion itself is a private service from $250, which includes the prescribed vitamins and minerals, nursing time and observation. You will be given the exact price before anything is booked.

Some extended health plans reimburse IV therapy with a prescription. Ask reception for a receipt and the prescription copy.

Frequently asked questions

Is an IV better than taking vitamins by mouth?

Only when absorption is the problem or a deficiency needs correcting quickly. For most people with normal levels, oral supplements work and cost less. The blood work tells us which applies to you.

Do you offer the Myers’ cocktail?

We offer a physician-prescribed blend of the same core components (B vitamins, vitamin C, magnesium, calcium), dosed to your assessment rather than as a fixed recipe.

Do you offer NAD+ or glutathione?

Not at present. The evidence for routine use is limited and we prioritise treatments with clear benefit.

How often would I need infusions?

For a confirmed deficiency, typically a short course then a recheck. Ongoing monthly infusions are rarely necessary once levels are restored and the cause is managed.

Can I just get a B12 shot?

Yes. B12 injections are quick, inexpensive and often all that is needed. Book the same way and ask for a B12 injection.
